LATEST NEWS: Reopening of the borders
The State Council has announced the lifting of the exceptional measures put in place at Geneva’s borders as part of the security arrangements for the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains. This measure will come into force on Thursday 18 June 2026 at 06:00. From that time onwards, crossing the border between the canton of Geneva and France will once again be permitted at all border crossings. Furthermore, from 3.30 pm on Wednesday 17 June 2026, exit from Swiss territory into France via the Chancy 1, Monniaz and Landecy border posts will no longer be restricted to holders of a border pass.

During the G7 period, traffic disruptions are expected on the main routes leading to the airport, particularly via the city centre, border posts and certain access roads.

From 12 to 18 June included, only seven border crossings will remain open: Anières, Moillesulaz, Thônex‑Vallard, Bardonnex, Perly, Meyrin and Ferney‑Voltaire. Systematic and reinforced controls will be carried out day and night at these points, with longer waiting times to be expected. In addition, three secondary border posts will be opened at specific times, as shown on this map, to ensure the smooth flow of traffic for travellers.
Specific opening times for secondary border posts:
from 12 to 18 June 2026 inclusive;
06:00–09:30 | 15:30–19:00.
Users are requested to comply with police instructions.
All other crossing points will be closed. Crossing the border outside these authorised posts will not be permitted, including on foot or by bicycle.
